HOMER ADVENTURES TERMS & CONDITIONS RESERVATIONS & PAYMENT
The lesser of $500 or 50% is due at time of booking to secure the reservation, remaining balance is due 2 weeks before pickup.
A 10% Alaska state vehicle rental tax and a 7.85% City of Homer vehicle rental tax applies to all reservations without a rooftop tent.
Renters must have a major credit card. Homer Adventures will authorize a hold of $300 for economy rental or $500 for other vehicles as security deposit 1 day before pickup date. When the vehicle is returned with full gas tank, in good condition with all add-ons and camping items and without damages except normal wear and tear, the deposit will be returned in-full.
VEHICLE PICKUP AND RETURN
We will pickup/drop-off the vehicle at the Homer Airport or location of your choosing within 5 miles of the City of Homer. Our normal operating hours are 10:00 am – 6:00 pm. We strive to be flexible with your schedule. If you are arriving or departing very early or very late we can usually arrange for that but must be informed more than 72 hours in advance. Reservations can be extended after pickup depending on availability and must be agreed to. Payment for any additional days must be paid in full at the time of change to the reservation. There is a 2 hour grace period when returning the vehicle at the agreed upon time, and a $100 late fee will be charged for each hour after the grace period.
CANCELLATIONS & CHANGES RENTER RESPONSIBILITIES
Renters and authorized drivers must have a valid driver’s license for the duration of the rental and must be age 21 or older. Version May 8, 2022 Page 1 of 3 Reservations are guaranteed at the time of booking, once the deposit has been received. Reservations may be canceled for a full refund less a 3% administrative fee if there are more than 14 days remaining before pickup date. Reservations canceled within 14 days of pickup date will not receive a refund of the deposit. No-shows will not receive a refund. Reservation dates may be changed without penalty depending on fleet availability. Reservations moved from lower-rate periods to higher-rate periods will be charged the difference in rate. Additional days may be added to the length of the original reservation and must be paid in full at the time of change if the trip has started. Days may also be removed from the length of the original reservation, but will not be refunded if the change takes place within 14 days of the original reservation. Renters are responsible for all damage to, loss of, or theft of the vehicle during the rental period, up to and including the full cost of the vehicle if it is declared a total loss.
Renters may also be responsible for administrative fees or fees incurred in enforcing this agreement. Renters must report all accidents or incidents of theft or vandalism to Homer Adventures and the police as soon as they are discovered. Renters will receive detailed instructions on the proper use and storage of the camping vehicle and its items including kitchen, rooftop tent and bedding. Any damage resulting from using the camping vehicle in violation of these instructions will be the responsibility of the renter, including fines, fees, replacement costs and repair costs. Vehicles must be returned with a full fuel tank. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, renters will be responsible for the cost to refill the tank plus a $50 refueling fee. Moving violations and parking fines or fees must be paid by the renter at the time they are incurred. If they are not paid, Homer Adventures will charge the renter a $50 administrative fee in addition to the original fine. Renters are responsible for cracked or broken windshields as well as at tires. Vehicles returned with a flat tire or broken windshield will incur a repair fee of $250 per tire or $300 per windshield. Repair fees for the windshield and up to 2 tires will be waived with the purchase of the Tire and Windshield Damage waiver. There is no smoking inside the vehicles or tents. If a vehicle is returned smelling of smoke, a cleaning fee of up to $500 will be charged. Up to two (2) pets are allowed with the addition of the Pet Cleaning Fee in designated Pet-Friendly vehicle. Reasonable dirt and hair is included with the fee; if a vehicle is returned with any animal waste, excessive hair or excessive animal-related stains or soil, an additional cleaning fee of up to $500 will be charged.
TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS & PROHIBITED USES
Vehicles must only be driven on maintained and improved roads. Vehicles must not be taken onto unimproved or poorly maintained roads, including the Dalton Highway, McCarthy Road, Denali Highway, or any other road requiring 4-wheel drive or other specialty vehicle. Vehicles must not be driven offroad. The vehicles' locations are tracked, we will know if you go offroad. There is a $500 per day charge for violations. The vehicles can only be driven on sealed/bitumen made (aka paved) roads or wellmaintained access roads less than 1 mile long to recognized campgrounds with the exception of Skilak Lake Road and Hatcher Pass/Fishhook Rd. Vehicles must not be driven to or in Mexico or Canada. Vehicles must not be used in violation of the law. Each passenger must use a seatbelt whenever the vehicle is in motion. Vehicles should not be driven when the fluid levels are low or when it’s reasonably obvious that further operation would damage the vehicle. Renters must not use the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or any drug, including marijuana.
EMERGENCY & ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE & ACCIDENT REPORTING
In an emergency, always dial 911. Accidents must be reported to Homer Adventures within twenty-four (24) hours, and must be accompanied by a police report. Refer to the “What to do in case of accident” card for help. Theft or vandalism of the vehicle or vehicle components must be reported to Homer Adventures within twentyfour (24) hours and must be accompanied by a police report. Refunds or vehicle replacement will be at the sole discretion of Homer Adventures and will depend on fleet availability as well as cause of accident or theft. Damages due to illegal or improper use of the vehicle are the renter’s responsibility and any remaining days on the reservation must be forfeited without refund. If roadside assistance is needed, consult the instruction book inside the van for the local area garages and towing companies. Due to the remoteness of Alaska, you are responsible for getting the vehicle back to an area which is serviced by a towing company.
