Contact us with additional questions.

How to book the vehicle?

We are a small business, husband and wife owned and operated. If our website booking tool is causing you trouble please text, call or email us and we will get your vehicle reservation sorted out right away. 907-435-7186

Is a Rooftop Tent right for me?

This style of camping involves climbing up a ladder, and a little upper body strength to open and close the tent. If heights and movement are not something you are comfortable with, then I would say this is not a good fit.

What's a good camping trip to take from Homer?

We have so many beautiful camping grounds on the Kenai Peninsula. After you have explored Homer my favorite stops are the Russian River and Hidden Lake campgrounds. Both have beautiful scenery, hiking trails and tons of options for outdoor recreation.

How to set up and breakdown the tent?

We use Roofnest tents with our rentals. Depending which model you book you can find detailed tent instructions below. Set up is fairly simple once you get the hang of it and takes less then 5 minutes.

Sparrow Adventure XL - installed on the Hummer H3

Condor Overland - installed on the 4x4 pickup

Checking the Tides - before you go beach combing always double and triple check the tides.

Finding Gold - Recreational gold panning is allowed at certain locations in Alaska. Prospector John in Cooper Landing offers many options to experience gold mining. Worth a stop when exploring the peninsula. Crow Creek Mine is another historic stop if you like to see the workings from the times of the gold rush, and also offers the option to mine your own gold.

Recommendations in Homer

Here are some personal recommendations for things to do in Homer.

Where to camp? When the weather is nice, the tent campground on the Homer Spit can't be beat, bring some firewood and enjoy the waves. Cottonwood Cabins also offers camping and is a beautiful space to experience the boreal countryside of Homer.

Fishing Charters - Homer is the halibut fishing capital of the world. Book with one of these personally vetted charters for a world class experience: Alaska Saltwater Adventures and Tenacious Charters

Bear Viewing -
Emerald Air Service is our recommendation for the ultimate bear viewing experience.

Local Flights _ Smokey Bay Air is our reccomendation for flightseeing and transport to the villages and hiking across cookinlet.

Restaurants - Fresh Catch, Lands End Chart Room Restaurant, The Cannery and the Saltry are all great places to eat.
Finn's Pizza and Home Run Pizza and Twisted Goat are the best. Swell Taco is perfect for light fare and Captain's Coffee and Wild Honey Bistro hit the spot.  Homer also hosts 3 Thai restaurants that are all great!

What equipment is included?

In addition to the tent and the kitchenette, we strive to provide all the essentials for your adventure for 2 persons. This gear is provided as a courtesy to help you on your travels - that said it is not state of the art gear, if you have a particular standard you may wish to bring your own.

Click here for a complete list of what is provided.

Freshly cleaned basic sleeping bags and pillows (clean delivered in trash bag) can be provided for an additional $20 per bag + pillow.

It is expected the gear will be returned in the clean condition it is provided in, a $100 cash deposit is collected which is returned when the gear is brought back.

What about the weather?
Unfortunately we cannot offer refunds due to bad weather.
While we cannot control the weather, the adventure camping vehicles are fun, safe and easy to drive around. We suggest to check a radar map or look for blue areas on Windy when you pick up your vehicle and alter trip plans accordingly.
The RoofNest tent performs great in many conditions, including the light rain that is common in Alaska, but may not be comfortable in high winds. Our wish is that you enjoy your trip in Alaska and hope you can be flexible with hotel room options to sleep soundly and comfortably should a large storm blow in.
Where are you located?
We do not have a brick and mortar storefront. We can meet you at the Homer Airport or your place of lodging within 5 miles of Homer city limits to pick up/drop off the vehicle.
Can we pick up/drop off the vehicle in Anchorage?
We are a small, family-owned business in Homer, Ak. We do not yet have the ability to also have a location in Anchorage. That means it costs us $600 + 1 rental day to take a vehicle one-way from Anchorage to Homer.
