Here are some personal recommendations for things to do in Homer.
Where to camp? When the weather is nice, the tent campground on the Homer Spit can't be beat, bring some firewood and enjoy the waves. Cottonwood Cabins also offers camping and is a beautiful space to experience the boreal countryside of Homer.
Fishing Charters - Homer is the halibut fishing capital of the world. Book with one of these personally vetted charters for a world class experience: Alaska Saltwater Adventures and Tenacious Charters
Bear Viewing -
Emerald Air Service is our recommendation for the ultimate bear viewing experience.
Local Flights _ Smokey Bay Air is our reccomendation for flightseeing and transport to the villages and hiking across cookinlet.
Restaurants - Fresh Catch, Lands End Chart Room Restaurant, The Cannery and the Saltry are all great places to eat.
Finn's Pizza and Home Run Pizza and Twisted Goat are the best. Swell Taco, Tickled Pear and Latitude 59 are perfect for light fare and Captain's Coffee and Wild Honey Bistro hit the spot. Homer also hosts 3 Thai restaurants that are all great!
